Getting to Motutapu Island

When booking your water transport there are several wharf landing options.

Rangitoto Wharf - suitable for smaller groups up to 20 people. A 3 hour walk into camp or alternatively two troop vehicles can collect the group and luggage.  Vehicle access: Troop vehicle and trailer access.

 Islington Bay Wharf - A 1.5 hour walk into camp. Vehicle access: Troop vehicle, trailer and luggage truck.

Yankee Wharf -  ideal for large groups and/or those groups who would like the flexibility to bring vehicles and large quantities of luggage across to the island. From this wharf there is a 2 hour walk into camp. Please note that if you intend to bring a vehicle across, we need to make an application on your behalf to the Department of Conservation and will need to submit this 3 weeks prior to your arrival. Vehicle access: Troop vehicle, trailer and luggage truck.​

Home Bay Wharf - suitable for medium size groups of up to 100 people. This wharf is tidal and your transport provider will be able to provide additional details vessel dependent. Vehicle access: Troop vehicle and trailer access.

Please note: MOEC does include a single pickup (arrival) and drop off (departure) of luggage and equipment.

Fullers.

Fullers is a passenger ferry that allows you to book individual return tickets online. They depart from and return to downtown Auckland.

 

Sea Link.

Sealink can transport your group as well as your vehicle to the island. They offer groups discounts depending on size. They offer a wide range of vessel options catering for large groups.

 

Red Boats.

Red Boats have a range of vessels to cater for all your needs. They are able to provide a cost effective service.

Riverhead Ferry.

Riverhead Ferry can fit up to 49 people for a bespoke trip that will make your experience special. There is a bar onboard and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available.

 

Auckland Sea Shuttles.

Auckland Sea Shuttles have two vessels and between them can transport up to 28 adults to Motutapu Island. Between the two boats they can meet most small group booking requirements and they have the flexibility of transporting you here at a time that suits you.
